Making the Most of this Holy Weekend

March 28, 2024

The high point of the Christian calendar is upon us. It began four days ago with Palm Sunday and finishes up this coming Sunday with Easter. But just so you know: it's not too late to invite someone to our Easter celebration THIS Sunday, March 31 at 9:30 am! We will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus through song, prayer, Scripture, food, and more. (Please note, there will be no Kids Creek, but the Nursery Room will be open for parents to stay with their little ones who need to squirm.)

But to prepare your heart for Easter Sunday and make the most of this week, here are some ideas of what you can do between now and then...

THURSDAY (Today)

FRIDAY

SATURDAY

  • Read Isaiah 53.
  • Watch Part 3 of the three-part video teaching series on Easter (6-minutes long).
  • Listen to Depth of Mercy (with which we will conclude our Good Friday service).
  • Send a reminder text to anyone you invited to Sunday's Worship Gathering to join you.
  • Take a walk through your neighborhood, praying for this weekend to not just be a holiday weekend, but truly a Holy Weekend for your neighbors. Pray specifically for your neighbors to find and follow Jesus.

SUNDAY

  • Come to Riverwood's Building at 2704 5th Ave NW to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! We'll start promptly at 9:30 am so come early if possible. And if you have kids, let them know they will be joining you in the celebration!
  • Before you come Easter morning, listen to What He's Done (which we'll sing after the sermon in our Worship Gathering) to help prepare your heart to celebrate!

May this be a wonderful weekend filled with worship and thanksgiving as you connect with God. We look forward to see you at tomorrow night's Good Friday service at 6:30 pm where we'll remember the crucifixion through reflective song, prayer, Scripture readings, and communion. See you then!

Riverwood Church, Waverly Iowa

We are on a mission to help people love like Jesus loved and live like Jesus lived.

It doesn't matter to us if you:

  • are a Wartburg student or a grandparent,
  • vote Democrat or Republican,
  • are married, divorced, or single,
  • have gone to church for years or haven't been to church in years,
  • make $100,000/yr. or wonder how you're going to pay rent this month,
  • or fear your past mistakes make you unlovable to God or others.

No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, we want to help you become who God has created you to be.
